Use the Google Desktop Sidebar, a panel placed on your desktop to provide access to news, weather, stocks, web clips, and plug-ins. It even allows you to search Google without using your web browser!
In addition to Sidebar, you can also use the Deskbar (a small search box in your Windows taskbar) and Floating Deskbar (a draggable version of the Deskbar) to quickly do a desktop or web search.
